Many people often ask us what is the point of a Business Facebook Page, isn’t Facebook for the younger generation, filled with fake news and pictures of cats and parties? Whilst that may be true to some extent, that still does not mean as a business you shouldn’t take Facebook seriously.

Think of the internet and your website. The internet is filled with various useful, fun, informative information, and your website has a place there. Facebook is the same, as with all Social Media platforms (yes, even TikTok!), there are many good reasons to take it seriously.

Below we list out the most basic and relevant points to consider why your business should have a Facebook Page.

Facebook is often the first place a new customer will look.

People are using Facebook more and more as there first port of call when researching a product, service or business. Even if they dont intend to look on Facebook, Google search results (or other searching methods) turn up businesses Facebook Pages.

Think about it, they can see how active a company is, see if there are any bad / negative reviews / comments on the page, and also how the business handles them (or if they even respond at all).

Its a great and fast indicator on the type of interaction someone can expect to have with a business.

Most people know that Facebook is easy to post to, if you don’t have a page they may wonder how serious you are about your business and your customers.

Customers look to Facebook for “Social Proof”.

Social Proof, whats that I hear you say. Its like a stamp of approval from other customers. How many likes your page has, have active it is from your customer base etc.

Think about it, if your page has 3 likes and just 1 post in the last 3 months it does not look very active, and a user will not know if you are active in your business or not.

On the flip side, if you have thousands of likes, and 20 posts in the last week or so with plenty of interaction between yourself and your customers, then this is good – its Social Proof that you are active and take things seriously.

Its great to use to build a mailing list.

Generally speaking, you are at the mercy of Google (or the other search engines) ranking your site, Facebook or the other Social Media platforms could change their rules at any time and make it harder for you to reach your customers. There is also the risk that a customer may not come looking for you, and has forgotten about your services or products.

But if you have a customers or potential customers email address, there is a very good chance you will be able to reach them with your latest hot offering.

This is why building an emailing list is so important for any business, it puts the needle back in your favor.

A Facebook Page allows for you to direct visitors to your page to sign up to your email address, making it a very valuable opportunity.

Take advantage of Facebook Advertising.

Its no surprise that Facebook knows a lot of information about any of its users.

Their age, location, interests (based on what pages they like) and even what their friends interests are can all be used for advertising. It even knows when they are most likely to be online and therefore spreads your budget in your favor to get the most exposure.

Although advertising on Facebook is not free, its a very effective way to get your message out, if you take the time to learn how to use their tools properly. You can really niche down on your target audience, and get the biggest impact for your budget.

Its Free.

Currently, Facebook is free for businesses to use. It may change in the future, and of course if you want to take advantage of advertising you set a budget, but the simple act of posting your articles, advertisements, special offers etc is still free if you are posting directly onto your business page.

You can also comment on others posts as your page, drawing attention to your brand and becoming looked at as a reliable source of truth for your specific target market.
